Chicagoland Real Estate
Chicagoland real estate includes the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs in northeastern Illinois. Chicagoland is a world class, progressive, and exciting area with much to offer people with many interests and it is a city with many faces. Owning Chicagoland real estate is a great investment, Chicagoland has a vibrant and diversified economy, and it is an international financial center, a transport hub, and a center of world reknowned health care services. It is home to many excellent colleges and universities, and several popular major league sports franchises. Chicagoland has become a thriving center of ground breaking cuisine, It has long been known for its architecture, arts, culture and entertainment. Also it has one of the country´s largest communities of the performing arts and a thriving theatre scene. It is remaking itself as an environmentally conscious Green, sustainable city, as well as a bike-friendly city. Chicagoland is all of this and it is located right on the lakefront of the beautiful Lake Michigan.
Chicagoland Property Styles In Chicago, there is something available for all tastes and preferences. No matter what interest you have, Chicagoland real estate offers nearly all imaginable options, large and small traditional detached single family houses, as well as townhomes, lofts, condominiums, cooperatives, multi-unit and mixed-use buildings, and apartments. One can choose from high-rises, mid-rises and walk-up buildings of all sizes. Also available are waterfront properties, skyline views, dense exciting urban locations and quiet, tree-lined residential neighborhoods.

Chicagoland Green Buildings and Homes
One segment of the Chicagoland real estate market I focus on is "Green Buildings" or "Green Homes". Green buildings are structures that take into consideration energy efficiency, sustainability, conservation, as well as healthy environments. The aim of the green building movement is to lessen the impact of each building on the environment and to provide healthy places in which people live or work.
Some common green features include alternate power sources such as solar panels, wind turbines, and geothermal heating and cooling systems. Other environmentally friendly features include use of sustainable and healthy building materials, energy efficient insulation, rain water collection cisterns, daylighting techniques, and siting near public transportation. Sustainable, green materials are incorporated for everything from flooring, countertops, cabinets, paints and fixtures.
In recent years many developers in the Chicago area have been building houses, condos, schools and offices with more concern for "green" characteristics. Now there are a large number of green building properties from which to choose. I will be glad to help you find a green building or home that meets your needs. South Loop Real Estate
The South Loop is an area located just south of The Loop (the main business district in Chicago) and along the Lake Michigan lakefront. Originally it was an area dominated by railroad tracks and commercial buildings. This area has seen explosive growth during the past several years due mainly to its proximity to the Loop, lakefront, colleges and universities, parks, museums and many options of transportation. The South Loop includes the neighborhoods of Printers Row, Central Station, and Dearborn Park. It also includes the historic districts of Michigan Avenue, Motor Row, and Prairie Avenue.
Points of interest in the South Loop include Grant Park, the Museum Campus, Soldier Field, and McCormick Place Convention Center. It is also home to Columbia College of Chicago. Many other colleges and universities have campuses in the Loop resulting in a large presence on the area.
An excellent variety of restaurants are offered in the South Loop on South Michigan Ave, South Wabash Ave and in Printers Row.
The Chicago South Loop real estate market is primarily made up of condos, lofts and apartments in large buildings. Additionally the area has a large number of townhomes. Most of the residential buildings are recently built, newer construction. Many buildings were converted from commercial spaces into mixed-use purposes of residential and retail. A couple aspects that many people are attracted to in this area are its clean streets and newer buildings. There are a small number of detached single family houses. This area is an ideal location for many people who work downtown because it allows for a short commute, and it is near all the nightlife and cultural events that are offered downtown.
Short Sales, Foreclosures and Distressed Properties
Across the country many homeowners have fallen behind on their mortgage payments. Nationwide over 10% of borrowers are either in the midst of foreclosure or behind on their payments. It is important for borrowers to know that they are not alone and it is also important to know what options are available. The option homeowners should want to avoid at all costs is foreclosure, which remains on a borrower's credit records indefinitely. Most banks are willing to work with borrowers rather than risk taking on another property through foreclosure. The possible options bank are willing to consider are loan modifications, refinancing or short sales.
A short sale is a situation in which the property is sold for an amount that is less than the amount of the current mortgage. For borrowers who have experienced a hardship a short sale of their property may be the best option to pursue.
